Character, Connection, Confidence, Competence
Calgary area U9 and U11 hockey teams now have a new way to build team culture.
ORENDA Society has teamed up with 1616.org to bring pro hockey stories to life through games, movement, and team challenges built around each story's lesson.
Players practice things like handling a bad shift without melting down, speaking up for a teammate, and trying again after a mistake.
Handle a bad shift without melting down.
Speak up for a teammate.
Try again after a mistake.
No lectures, no boring videos. Just relatable stories from pros paired with games and conversations kids actually enjoy.
The five sessions
Each one runs 45 to 60 minutes, in person, led by an ORENDA facilitator. Teams work through them across the season.
-
Team identity
Who we are as a team, and what we want to be known for.
-
Trying their best
Effort and growth, not just the scoreboard.
-
Being a good teammate
On the ice, on the bench, and in the room after a loss.
-
Bouncing back from mistakes
What to do with the shift that did not go your way.
-
Celebrating each other
Noticing and naming what teammates do well.
What your team gets
