Melissa Raven

Instructor & Outdoor Program Facilitator

Melissa grew up in High River, surrounded by wide-open skies and a strong sense of community. Her path has always led her toward connection—whether it was through her church youth group, mission trips with Samaritan’s Purse, or her years of service as a volunteer firefighter with the High River Fire Department.

A lifelong lover of water, Melissa began lifeguarding in high school and never left the pool deck. For the past 15 years, she’s worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor with the Town of Okotoks, teaching confidence, safety, and joy in movement to all ages.

These days, Melissa brings that same spirit of care and community to her work with Orenda, where she’s beginning her journey as an instructor and hopes to lead outdoor programs that reconnect families and youth with nature. Her philosophy is simple: being outside heals, grounds, and reminds us of what really matters.

When she’s not at the pool or dreaming up outdoor adventures, you’ll find her hiking, camping, paddle boarding, or leading her Cubs as a volunteer with 1st High River Scouts. She’s a mom to three kids (9, 11, and 13), who inspire her every day to keep growing, learning, and finding joy in the little things—like sunshine, tacos, and hugs after long days.
